Surprise!

We had a good weekend here. Nathan was on Spring Break all week which was great. On Wednesday he told me he had a surprise for me on Friday. So Friday morning we woke up early and got in the car and got driving. A couple hours later I recognized a Mc Donald's. We hadn't eaten there (blech), but we'd turned around in the parking lot months ago. We were in Pennsylvania. And not just anywhere in Pennsylvania, but we were near Ikea.

We pulled into the parking lot, took Megan to the kid play area (Jeremy sadly is still too short to enter the play area and not fully potty-trained), and then began meandering though. Nathan asked me if I knew why we were there and I had to be honest: No Earthly Idea.

I knew there were tons of things I wanted at Ikea. But I couldn't think of why we would be there other than just to have something to do.

When we got to the bedroom stuff he walked to the dressers and said, "Pick one."

I was shocked. I got to pick out a new dresser!! I've been using the K-Mart dresser we bought for Megan when she was born. The drawers stick, refusing to either come out or go back in. Also, I have more clothes than the average 4 year old, and needed more space than a simple, small, 4 drawer dresser would allow.

And since the last time we went to Ikea we bought a dresser for Megan and Emma to share, and I of course picked out my favorite dresser for them, I got to pick out the same dresser for me. I just picked a different color this time. So mine is a black wood. And has no hardware. Because, if you recall, I bought a bunch of different pieces of hardware for Megan and Emma's dresser at Anthropologie. Nathan would prefer that my dresser look "classier." Really, that's exactly what he said. So, for my dresser, I will be picking matching, cool, vintage-type hardware. That's ok, right Nathan?

Ikea Flashback

Remember when I wrote about our little trip to Ikea? A few of you said you wanted to see what we bought. Well, I know our trip was way back forever ago, but I'm just now getting around to it. You see, I didn't want to post it until it was finished. I bought some funky (and we all know how much I love funky) hardware for the dresser we got Megan and Emma and for a while only the first four were on it. Well today Nathan surprised me while I was in the kitchen cleaning up cupcake messes. I came out of the kitchen and saw him finishing up this project of ours.

As you can see, Megan is very excited to finally have the rest of these on the dresser. Probably because it was her drawers that were missing the hardware for three months.

Here are a couple close up pictures of a couple of my favorite ones.

This is actually the one that started it all. I went to Anthropologie's website and saw it. I decided to go to the store here and go get some, but when I went I couldn't find any. I bought 6 pieces of mismatching ones to make it more fun (for me, not Nathan :( ) and then walked over to Cold Stone for icecream. Then I walked back over to Anthropologie after deciding to go ahead and buy the last four I would need to complete it. That's when I saw the sale bin that for some odd reason I hadn't noticed before. I'd been in the store for about an hour and never noticed it, even though it was right next to the hardware. That's when I found the piece I'd originally gone in for and they only had one!

She's so happy!

Road Trip!

This weekend we decided to take a road trip to Pittsburgh. For some reason we love to punish ourselves with long road trips and three cranky kids. for this road trip there were two things on our agenda.

Ikea and leaves.

We accomplished both.

So much prettier than Cleveland. I mean, there are pretty parts of Ohio with the leaves changing, but this is just gorgeous!

Jeremy making a sweet face while I'm trying to sooth Emma.
She'd been in her carseat a l-o-n-g time by this point.

Megan doing her typical, princess-tilting-head-to-the-side pose. With Oreos on her mouth, too.

The trip was fun. We ended up getting some Christmas presents for the kids as well as the dresser we wanted. I love Ikea. It is just so much fun! There was a Toys R Us next to it, so Nathan took Jeremy there while I took Megan back in Ikea to play at the children's area. While she played I checked out some of the cute kitchen ware. Found my future china!
