The Bug Tag

Michelle tagged me with the ten things that bug me tag. Most of the things on her list would also be on mine, but I told her I'd try to come up with some other ones. Or at least a different way of saying the same thing ;) So here goes!

1.) Cleaning up the same mess ten times in one day. (Emma likes to pull all the kid games off the game shelf and eat the Candy Land cards.)

2.) Stupid people. I don't think there is really anything that bugs me more than stupid people. And by stupid people I mean people who are a.) actually dumb, b.) have no understanding of morals whatsoever, or c.) are in charge of government programs. In some cases, all three of these fit the same stupid people at the same time.

3.) Hollywood and the media. I may be cheating with this because they fall under #2's b, but I guess I am just being a little more specific.

4.) Not getting enough sleep at night. I haven't had a full night's sleep since before I got pregnant with Megan in 2004. That's kind of a long time in my opinion.

5.) Having an eye twitch almost constantly for more than a week (possibly longer, I've lost count of how many days it's been going on). (See #4)

6.) Doing part-time work for a friend who speaks English as a second language and having absolutely no idea what he wants in his website content. Not getting credit for said content, having to sign my emails to his superiors in his name, getting money before I've actually earned it (because it makes me feel like he owns my free time), and being told to find other people who want to help. Um, it's not my website, find your own dang people. And while you're at it, what do you want me to write?

7.) Having people (constantly) tell me a.) I have my hands full and/or b.) look tired, and/or c.) smile. Yes, I have three kids and guess what, I want two more. And guess what else. I'll probably have those two in the next four years. Leave me alone over the number of kids I have. Yes, I look tired, again see #4 and #5. Megan and Jeremy both have night terrors and I have an infant who doesn't yet sleep through the night. Do you think bringing it up will suddenly give me time to sleep, help me sleep better, or help my kids sleep through the night without screaming and crying for half and hour at 3 AM? I didn't think so. And please don't tell me to smile. My face just isn't one of those faces that naturally is in a constant smile. I smile if something makes me laugh, but other than that these lips pretty much stay in the resting position. Don't mention it, m'kay?

8.) People who work in customer service, but have no idea what customer service is.

9.) Fighting kids. (As in kids who are fighting with each other.)

10.) Those stupid cat pictures that say crap like, "I can haz cheezburger?" I hate those.

You are hilarious!! I always thought you were so funny...you are amazing with words. I think you are a fantastice mother...I had no idea that Jeremy had night terrors too. Is it supposed to be genetic or something? Is Megan starting to grow out of them...You are awsome!

Thanks, Michelle! Yes, night terrors are genetic. Megan is growing out of them and really doesn't have them very often, but occasionally she will have either a terror or just a really bad nightmare. Last night she must have had a mild one because I was able to call to her from my room without getting out of bed. I reminded her she was going to dream about a tea party with unicorns and she quieted down after three or four minutes of crying. The night terror gene is part of the sleep walking gene, which Megan also has current problems with. Jeremy had his first one about 8 months ago and then there was nothing until Christmas vacation. I still have hope for Emma though.

this post made me laugh. so true about stupid people.

i feel for you on the night terror thing. there is nothing you can do to calm a child in the throes of a night terror.

my son has night terrors also and all my kids have terrible growing pains in their legs. arrgghh! so, i haven't had a good night's sleep in over 6 years. i can totally feel your pain! why does no one ever tell you that even though you don't have an infant, you still aren't guaranteed a full nights sleep? best kept secret of motherhood...

Oh Kellie, I hope it gets better! And I'm so happy that you want more kids. People are already asking me if this is it. No, it's not.

This was a great tag! Being over tired sucks and having people say you look tired doubly sucks :( I've had that eye twitch thing happen to me and it's so annoying! I hope it gets better for you soon.

If you don't take advantage of every free government service (ie mooch off of everyone else) then you don't have to deal with as many stupid government workers.

Welcome back Anonymous! I've missed you. As you can see, I published your comment. Aren't you so proud? I wanted to respond to it, so here goes.

With the government programs, I was referring to people like President Obama being in charge of our nation. Not like some random person at a W.I.C. office or Medicaid building. And yes, people who mooch are kind of annoying in their own right. But ya know, those programs are there for a reason and not everyone who uses them are moochers. Some people hate being on those programs and have no other choice until their circumstances change. Then they are more than relieved to be able to give back to the system. I know many who fit the latter description.

I agree that the programs are there for a reason because there are people who truly need it (a very Mormon and dare I say Democrat view, yes I used Mormon and Democrat in the same sentence). The problem is people waiting for their circumstances to change rather than doing anything to change their circumstances.

Anonymous, I totally agree that there is a problem with how some people just sit around waiting for their circumstances to change instead of going out and changing those circumstances themselves. However, that being said, I still think there is a major flaw in the programs. Such as: if you are a student it is almost impossible to get any kind of help from the government, like medicaid. Now a student is someone who is trying to change their circumstances, trying to get into a position where they can put money back into the system and help others, become a contributing member of society, and yet our government isn't willing to help them in the same way they are willing to pander to someone who isn't in school and doesn't want a job. My father teaches school in an area where nearly every family is on welfare. The students don't bother trying in their classes and for a teacher to say, "you need a good education so you can get a good job" doesn't mean anything because they don't see their parents or anyone else in their family working and they get everything they want and need from the government. I know it is a huge problem and unfortunately, the system doesn't have conditions for those on welfare to ensure that they are trying to help themselves, or even encourage it.

wow! is this the infamous anonymous?

It's funny that you think Anonymous can only be 1 person. Surely someone else can disagree with what you have to say. What makes you think this is the same Anonymous person as before?

See my live feed at the bottom right of my blog? It tells me when people come by and where they are from. Notice how the comments have a time stamp on them? I can put two and two together. I'll admit, I haven't checked all of them, but I have checked most of the comments against the live feed and they match pretty well. Plus, those in the live feed that are on the blog around the same time are people I know. I am sure that there is more than one person that disagrees with me. In fact I have friends who disagree with me all the time. But please, realize that I just don't appreciate being accused as a moocher, bad mom, etc.

troll \ˈtrōl\ noun: a user of a newsgroup, forum or message board that posts messages with the intent of inciting an argument or flame-war. Many times these scandalmongers hide in the shadows of anonymity to preserve their supposedly more respectable real-life selves.

I really don't know what beef this anonymous self-righteous Utahan has with you, Kellie, but it is definitely apparent that she is, at the very least, a troll. Especially since your post has nothing to do with welfare. She's just pulling crap out of who knows where to get some sick satisfaction from putting someone else down.
